AI research startup Gibran, based in Bengaluru, has successfully secured $XXX million in seed funding from the Together Fund, co-founded by Girish Mathrubootham and Manav Garg.

Gibran's core mission is to develop foundational AI models that operate effectively even with limited data, initially focusing on drug discovery applications.

Founders Govind Balakrishnan and Srikant Chakravarti are combining large language models with nature-inspired systems to create AI capable of generating original ideas by recombining known patterns.

This approach is particularly valuable in data-scarce fields like medical research.

Balakrishnan emphasizes that their aim is for AI to evolve with humans, learning from both data and people.

Gibran plans to license its proprietary AI tools through a research-and-platform model, targeting life sciences, education, and media, ultimately enabling AI agents for scientific hypothesis generation and creative exploration that support human intelligence.
