We interfered. We reported it constantly, since the official SOP was that bachi baza weren’t allowed and PB commanders (Afghani Police Commanders) weren’t allowed to have young boys in the PB overnight. But the command swept our reports under the rug. Over. And over. If you want to know why that conflict caused more PTSD and suicides than OIF, there’s your answer. Working with pedophiles every day and having your every attempt at holding them accountable be undone by the very leadership and government you’re supposed to look up to wears a man down.
