Jagan Mohan Reddy has been intensely critical of Sonia Gandhi in the past, especially over the division of Andhra Pradesh.

He publicly accused her of splitting the state just to make her son, Rahul Gandhi, the Prime Minister and even said she had done more harm than the British.

The conflict reportedly began after his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's death, when the Congress leadership was unhappy with the immediate push from Jagan's supporters to make him the next Chief Minister.

Given this history and reports that Jagan hasn't forgotten the "humiliation" he faced, a future alliance between YSRCP and Congress seems unlikely, but it's hard to say for certain what could happen by 2029.
