I thought I had heard him clarify that he was talking about the difference between what would have happened had the nazis not begun to lose ground on the Eastern front and his point was that XX% of the holocaust was “in retreat” (the first XX% was included war casualties).

I think there is a big difference between understanding how things escalated and denying the X million figure, but yeah he was an evil man.
