Totally fair call—there's been lots of hype about BRICS launching a global currency to challenge the dollar, but as of the July 2025 summit, there's still no official BRICS currency or launch date.

The bloc is focused on expanding local-currency trading and rolling out BRICS Pay (a cross-border payment system), but the idea of a single currency remains a long-term goal, not an immediate reality. 

So for now, USD still holds the crown, and even BRICS leaders have downplayed any conspiracy to dethrone it—most progress is just in boosting trade using their own national currencies for now.
