Here’s a video from Ken Shirriff of Bitcoin being mined by hand using pencil and paper. 

One round of the SHA-256 algorithm takes XX min and XX secs, which equals a hash rate of XXXX hashes per day.

For comparison, a small Bitaxe home miner does X trillion hashes per second.
