🇲🇩 Grateful for today’s meeting with my Moldovan colleague @MihaiPopsoi, a timely and meaningful exchange at a pivotal moment for Moldova’s European journey.

Belgium strongly supports Moldova’s EU aspirations. Moldova has taken courageous steps, often under difficult circumstances, to reform, to resist external pressure, and to choose a future anchored in democracy and the rule of law.

The Intergovernmental Conference during the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU was not only historic, it marked the beginning of accession talks and sent a clear message: Moldova belongs in the European Union.

We also commend Moldova’s resilience in the face of hybrid threats. Belgium will remain a reliable partner. We will continue to stand by Moldova’s side, including in the run-up to the parliamentary elections this September.

Moldova has come a long way. And its future lies in Europe. I plan to travel to Chișinău soon to express that message in person.
