Ltd., Rithwik Kolhapur PSP Pvt. Ltd., Adani Hydro Energy Ten Ltd. and Waterfront Construction Pvt. Ltd. at Vidhan Bhavan, Mumbai today. These landmark agreements give a major boost to Maharashtra’s pumped storage hydroelectric sector, setting the stage for rapid growth in renewable energy, industrial expansion, and employment generation. With these four projects, an additional 6450 megawatts of clean energy capacity will be added, backed by a massive investment of ₹31,955 crore and creating XXXXXX new jobs. This takes Maharashtra’s total to XX pumped storage projects with a combined capacity of XXXXXX megawatts and over XXXX lakh employment opportunities, firmly positioning the state as a national leader in this space. A bold, forward-looking policy continues to drive Maharashtra’s transition to renewable energy, contributing to Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji's vision of a Net-Zero India. By 2030, over XX% of the State’s energy requirement will be met through renewable sources, with pumped storage playing a key role in ensuring grid stability alongside solar power. Maharashtra’s rich biodiversity and the Sahyadri mountain ranges offer unmatched potential for pumped storage. A long-term target of X lakh megawatts has been set, and the growing interest from industry makes this vision realistically achievable. A robust policy framework has been put in place to regulate reservoir usage charges, industrial water tariffs, and land lease rates.
