#OTD in 1990.

Ferrari's Nigel Mansell led the British GP, but the gearbox started to malfunction & he was overtaken by teammate Alain Prost, retiring  on lap XX. Mansell threw his gloves into the crowd & announced that he would leave F1 at the end of the season...
