Grant Horvat's YT video of him playing in the Barracuda would have got more views than Sunday TV eyeballs. FACT!

You can't let every single person in the field have their own camera crew, obviously. And the tour's media legal rigidity allows for very little growth into the new golf broadcasting. Media mediums that never even existed while Jack Nicklaus was playing the game.

The tour and its broadcasting partners likely have legalities that prohibit GH from producing PGA content, which is not surprising, and I get why they said no personal cams.

NOW, thinking about growing the game, reaching new fans, putting more eyeballs on the game of golf ... just imagine what this could have lead to had the tour been in a position to say yes, document your experience playing in a PGA tour event.

Not that I want to see Grant or other YTbers every week, but actual PGA PROs who want to grow their brand! Charismatic up and coming stars, who are cool having camera's around to explain thought processes about the nuance of each shot they face, for the full round. (Imagine Padraig Harrington doing a week of this kind of content at the Scottish Open?

Golf has the opportunity to embrace the virtual world and create a Netflix series of "playing with >insert golfer<". There would be distractions and logistics to smooth over in the beginning, but man, the potential to do something no other sport really can due to the fast-paced nature of the games.

Golf has a couple minutes between shots to share thoughts, gather info, etc. Stuff that professionals do differently and that nerds of the game find fascinating, providing real time technique insights /course management decisions /club selection/handling expectations etc.

You get to experience everything from a golfer's round, up close and personal, from the first tee shot (warm up, hell, if he wants, his morning coffee). It could be an entirely different feed or even streamed to the tours YT.

This kinda stuff would be amazing and I am here to say that I love the stance Grant has taken. It likely benefits everyone in the long run if this decision gets the traction he is looking for!

Yes, there are KFT and aspiring golfers who deserve that spot in the field, I agree. And it likely takes a couple trials with YTbers to ultimately get to a full XX holes of walk and talk with a pro, who is not stealing a sponsors invite from a grinder.

Nobody likes change, and nobody is more focused on upholding tradition than golf, but I think with how technology is advancing and how content is being consumed, golf provides a perfect platform to create an entirely different way to broadcast sport!

Try it! If it fails, oh well. If it takes off, we have a whole new way to consume professional golf!
