$COIN a contract in which you would have wanted to check up on the OI in the morning. X similarly sized candles, the first of which was XXX% 'an opening trade', leaves room for the possibility of a 'double down' or the position being closed out. Given that we would have seen a total OI of at least ~2000 (~1000 + ~1000) we know that the original trader closed their position intraday. Someone was on the other end to assume those contracts, which is why the open interest still goes up by ~1000 by not by as much as it would have had we seen a double down.
