Trump is calling on the Fed to cut rates by X full percentage points, claiming it would save the U.S. $X trillion annually.

For context - the largest rate cut in Fed history was just X% back in March 2020.

A X% cut? That would be unprecedented.

Will it happen? Highly unlikely.
But the fact that such pressure is being applied tells you everything about the political urgency behind lower rates.
