A majority of Druze religious, political, and civil leaders met this morning in the Suwayda Governorate of Southwestern Syria, agreeing on the need for the intervention of forces from the Syrian Defense and Interior Ministries to stop the fighting in Suwayda. Not in attendance once again was Hikmat al-Hijri, who has long opposed the government in Damascus and has close-ties to Israel.
