Considerable Bryan Mbeumo update here: the gap in valuation is several million pounds apart, with no significant developments the past couple of weeks, a deal is still not imminent, but talks continue.

Laurie Whitwell adds a stand off over price, debate on the fee wanted, with the £70m Tottenham bid seen as a yard stick. United hope that they ease their valuation. Mbeumo's mood at training now a potential factor.

Hard not to feel Brentford are dealing in bad faith. The second bid was the guaranteed fee United had been indicated would be accepted, but they have continually moved the goal posts on that now.

They've briefed the Spurs bid, tried to create an auction, Phil Giles spoke to Sky & have played it out in the press. As frustrating as this is, the club not caving in to their demands is understandable.

Very frustrating, clearly intense situation.
