After more than XXX years, this landmark reform initiative marks a transition into a more organized and modern security force now officially rebranded as the Federal Constabulary. The Frontier Constabulary was the force placed in the buffer zones between the erstwhile Fata’s and Settled areas. Under the previous legal framework, the FCn operated with a three-tiered structure comprising command, district officer, and platoon levels. In the new organizational model, the hierarchy has been expanded to include platoons, companies, and wings. These wings will now fall under the operational control of Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), while the overall command remains with the Inspector General (IG). As part of this restructuring, XX new wings are set to be established XX of which will function as security wings. These units will be staffed by personnel already serving within the FCn, with recruitment continuing under the traditional platoon-based model. A notable addition in the revised structure is the creation of a Federal Reserve Division, comprising six specialized wings. This division includes: • Five Riot Support Wings, designed to support federal law enforcement during national campaigns such as polio eradication drives and religious events like Muharram. • One Special Protection Wing, already tasked with securing key federal offices and designated sensitive locations.
