In their latest Online+ Beta bulletin @ice_blockchain talked about fine tuning their consensus mechanism. 

A consensus mechanism is the method in which a blockchain choses who is going to mine the next block. Examples of consensus mechanisms are:

- Proof of Work (PoW)
- Proof of Stake (PoS)

$ICE uses a variant of PoS called Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) which is a faster and more democratic version of traditional PoS, designed to improve scalability and performance. It will play a significant role in the $ICE blockchain being able to process up to X million TPS
