There is nothing quite like Kukio. Truly a paradise within paradise. Located on the Big Island in Hawaii, this private community is truly a lifestyle. It has an incredible XX hole golf course, a XX hole short course, an incredible beach club, and the staff treats everyone like family. The big course is one of Fazio’s finest! Built on lava rock, there are ocean views everywhere. The fairways are wide and playable, though if you miss them they are often lost. The greens are wicked! Lots of false fronts and tight chipping areas present a real challenge. The turf is top notch. Wall to wall Paspalum makes for perfect playing surfaces. It’s firm and bouncy, while also being beautiful and smooth. One of my favorite turf grasses to play on. Fazio made a great routing with lots of variety. Great mix of birdie chances and big holes where bogey is a good score. Aesthetically it’s as beautiful as they come. The vibe is Island for sure. No strict dress codes, loaded comfort stations, one of the best bars you will ever see overlooking the ocean. There are few players, so you can relax and just enjoy the course. Can’t say enough about Kukio. It’s a true escape from the world, a private enclave that provides unmatched luxury, in a laid back way. The course is fantastic. And the people are amazing. Kukio Golf & Beach Club Tom Fazio - 2003 Private
