NEW: Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino *did* show up to work today, President Trump is "fuming" at him and FBI Director Kash Patel, according to CNN.

The outlet claims Vice President JD Vance is playing "mediator."

"[Bongino] implied that he could no longer continue in his position as long as Bondi was there..." CNN reported.

"The threat infuriated Trump, who spent the weekend fuming over both Bongino and FBI Director Kash Patel, sources told CNN."

"But Vice President JD Vance spent the weekend attempting to mediate, at times fielding calls from Patel, Bongino and Bondi, sources said."

Over the weekend, President Trump had nothing but nice things to say about Bongino, saying they had a good call and that he "sounded terrific." (Video below)

"I spoke to him today. Dan Bongino is a very good guy. I’ve known him a long time. I’ve done his show many, many times. And he sounded terrific, actually, no, I think he’s in good shape."
