I suffer from severe social anxiety. I've avoided cons for years. I have my ticket booked for DEF CON, but the day before I'm due to leave, I tell a friend "I can't go, I'm having panic attacks." The next day, I go anyway. I have the most fun I've had in years. The year is 2025. I still have social anxiety. I've been to countless cons over the past few years. I'm going to my 5th DEF CON in a row. I'm appearing on a panel and running X (~4) contests, one of which is on the main stage. I still get anxious, especially on stage. I still have panic attacks. But each one is more manageable than the last. One day, they might go away entirely, but even if they don't, it doesn't matter. I'll still put myself in social situations. Exposure therapy isn't for everyone, but it worked for me. A lot of us suffer from mental health issues. This is just a post to let people know things can get better, and also if I seem a bit distant if you run into me at a con, I may just need a few moments. 🙂 XXXXXX engagements [Post Link](https://x.com/0xTib3rius/status/1944865147706548641)
