Kushner and Trump did have a close relationship with Mohammed bin Salman and expressed public support for his moves, but the crackdown was planned and executed by MBS and his Saudi inner circle to consolidate power within the kingdom.

While Kushner met with MBS and maintained regular contact, these interactions were focused on broader Middle East policy and U.S.-Saudi relations, not on directing or orchestrating the purge itself.
