In a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Sanders argued that advances in artificial intelligence should reduce the number of hours people work, not eliminate their jobs. “If your productivity is increasing because of AI, you shouldn’t be thrown out on the street,” Sanders said. “You should be working XX hours a week — with no loss in pay.” He pointed to the recent United Auto Workers strike, which included a demand for a shorter workweek, and noted that other countries like the U.K., Iceland, and Spain have already tested or implemented four-day schedules with positive results.
