By July 14, the account had XXX million followers. Then the internet truly exploded: Babydoll Archi posted a photo with American pornstar Kendra Lust, sparking wild rumors that she was entering the porn industry. Meme pages on Fb and Insta lit up with posts about “an Assam girl joining the US porn industry,” and the news quickly spread across India, especially in Assam. But the truth was darker and stranger. A boy later approached the Dibrugarh police, filing an FIR alleging that his sister’s ex-boyfriend, Pratim Bora, a mechanical engineer from Tinsukia, had stolen her private photos from her social media profiles and used AI tools to create the “Babydoll Archi” persona. This included deepfake photos, misleading travel reels, and even the viral image with Kendra Lust, all without the real woman’s knowledge. She only discovered it when the account blew up online. In short, a disgruntled ex-boyfriend had turned his former girlfriend into an AI-generated adult content celebrity, even profiting through a subscription-based website selling doctored and AI-generated images using her face. Dibrugarh police arrested Bora two days back. Its chief Sizal Agarwal said Bora’s motive was to humiliate and harass the victim after their breakup. The case shows why we need more debate on AI ethics, privacy, and digital trust. AI can be misused to harm someone’s life and reputation. Till we find a solution to this, it’s best to stay aware and keep your personal life and photos within your close circles only.
