I want to share a wonderful human I met at the airport today. As I’m sitting at my gate waiting for my flight I look up and see this woman slowly limping toward the seats. They were all taken so I get up and offer her mine. Her family was next to me and said no thank you as they made room for her to sit down right next to me. She seemed upset and in pain so I asked her if she was ok? She explained that the airport didn’t have a wheelchair for her even tho she reserved one. She can’t stand for long periods of time without being in severe pain and they made her wait standing in line the whole time as well as they weren’t going to give her a wheelchair to get on the plane. I immediately went to the front and asked to please get her a wheelchair to get on the plane. I sat back down told her I would make sure she got a wheelchair. She was so grateful and we began to chat.

Her name is Seema, she is retired after XX years of rehabilitating and helping juveniles, and she was on her way to Michigan for a family reunion with her son and grandkids. As we were chatting her son Tim leans in from across the aisle, thanks me, and says, “You really are as nice as you seem online. Thank you for helping my mother.” I had no idea he knew who I was. I thanked him and said I would want someone to do the same for my mother. He is a Special Ed teacher and an incredible person as was his whole family. We began to board I helped Seema get into her wheelchair and safely onto the plane.

Seema, Tim, spending time today at the airport with you and your family absolutely made my day. I hope you have a wonderful week in Michigan and the best family reunion. Safe travels and God bless. Thank you again.
