After the XX year period, $LOW finished with a yield on cost of XXXXX%

Meanwhile, $VZ has a yield on cost of just 5.47%.  

That means if you invested $XXXXX in each of these companies in 2013-

$VZ would now be paying you $XXXXX yearly, while $LOW would be paying you $XXXXXX.
