X Chronicles XX

Parents,

King David is told that he will not be the one to build God’s temple. But, the Lord also reminds David that he has been with David everywhere that he has gone, defeated his enemies, and will establish his name with the great ones of the Earth.

This would be a great encouragement to David alone, but the Lord did not stop there. He promised David that on the day that David would go to be with his fathers, that he would have a son who would establish his kingdom!

“He shall build for me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son and I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him who was before you. But I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever and his throne shall be established forever.”

A true father is one who delights in the success of his seed. David did not respond with a fallen heart, but with one that that was full and humble. He responded in a prayer of thanksgiving and gratitude. He also prayed with confidence.

“And now, O Lord, let the word that Thou hast spoken concerning Thy servant and concerning his house forever, and do as Thou hast spoken.”

We know that God was faithful to this by raising up Solomon and ultimately fulfilling this promise in Christ!

Christians, today live for the legacy of the Kingdom. Don’t live for your name. Give your shoulders to your children, and help them stand on them to greater a greater glory.

Then, as a family proclaim, “And let Thy name be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of host is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel; and the house of David Thy servant is established before Thee’….And now, O Lord, Thou art God, and hast promised this good thing to Thy servant. And now it hath pleased Thee to bless the house of Thy servant, that it may continue forever before Thee; for Thou, O Lord, hast blessed, and it is blessed forever!”
