POWELL CALLS FOR IG REVIEW OF $2.5B FED HQ RENOVATION

Fed Chair Jerome Powell has asked the central bank’s inspector general to review its $2.5B headquarters renovation, amid growing pressure from Trump and his allies. The project—focused on two historic buildings—has become a flashpoint as Trump pushes for Powell’s removal over rate policy.

The review comes as the White House questions whether parts of the overhaul violated design rules. Powell is seeking a fresh look from the IG, even as the Fed maintains it followed all legal guidelines and doesn’t need further NCPC approval.
