Groks companions look childish - but that’s their purpose. And more thoughtful than you might think

It may look funny, but it actually serves a purpose and fills a niche.

CharacterAI is particularly popular among young people, many of whom spend a lot of their free time with the characters. So far, however, there has been a lack of animated characters with an outstanding LLM and good voice mode in the background.

Grok is now filling this void. It will attract many young people who will spend hours and hours with these companions.

This is certainly of no interest to hardcore users, SWEs and researchers. But xAI is opening up a whole new customer group.
