$META FACES $8B TRIAL OVER PRIVACY VIOLATIONS

Mark Zuckerberg is expected to testify this week as Meta heads to trial in a shareholder lawsuit tied to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Investors say Facebook’s leadership—Zuckerberg, Sandberg, Andreessen, Thiel, and others—ignored a 2012 FTC agreement and allowed massive user data misuse.

The trial, set to last eight days in Delaware, centers on claims that Meta directors failed their duty of oversight, one of the toughest allegations to prove in corporate law. Shareholders want $8B in damages to cover fines and fallout, including the $5B FTC penalty from 2019.
