The President who is now on his way to Osaka, Japan, had a technical stopover in Mumbai, India where he received a detailed briefing on Zimbabwe-India bilateral relations from Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to India, Ambassador Nkomo. Zimbabwe has over 7000 students in various institutions of higher education in India. 1400 of these are on Presidential Scholarships. Almost all are pursuing technology studies, with HIT and NUST having a special staff development programme for University lecturing staff. Cooperation between Zimbabwe and India in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors continues to grow, more so with the new growth plan for our Central Hospitals.
