🌟 🌟 THE WA #URANIUM MINING BAN WAS NEVER POPULAR! SOME HISTORY...

X. In 2008 Premier Barnett overturned the previous uranium mining ban.

X. Major exploration activity and expenditure in WA occurred.

X. Major corporate activity also occurred, with Cameco purchasing Kintyre from Rio Tinto and Yeerillie from BHP, the two largest projects in the State.

X. But the Anti Nuclear Alliance of WA lodged a Parliamentary Petition calling on the Premier to reinstate the Ban.

X. It initially got XX Signatures. IT WAS FINALLY LODGED WITH XXX TOTAL SIGNATURES out of the WA population of >2 million people.

X. The most popular petition of that year? Premier Barnett had threatened to ban the sale of cannabis smoking equipment. Petition XX – Opposing the Banning of Cannabis Smoking Bonds and Water Pipes – achieved XXXXX signatures - >20x greater than the Uranium petition!
 >>>Interesting to know what West Australians really care about!! 🀣

X. Despite this; Mark McGowan ran in 2017 on a promise to reinstate the ban, a clever political move aimed at halting the exodus of the Hard Left from Labor to the Greens (a trend that was occurring across Australia)

X. Despite never having high popularity, the ban has been in place since, costing WA jobs, revenue diversification, and the ability to have the feel good feeling of leading the global energy transition by exporting the world’s most concentrated form of green energy to our strategic trading partners.

TIME TO LIFT THE BAN!!!
