Ben Affleck might be worth $XXX million, but that doesn’t mean his kids get to spend like it.

His 13-year-old son, Samuel, recently learned that the hard way after asking for a pair of $XXXXX Dior Air Jordan 1s. The moment happened at the Got Sole sneaker convention, where Samuel pointed out the pricey kicks—and Affleck quickly shut it down.

"You like those because they’re expensive," Affleck said, before adding, "That’s a lot of lawns you gotta mow." That comment stuck, and apparently, Samuel didn’t want the sneakers so badly after all.

Later, in an interview with Access Hollywood, Affleck was asked if his son ever followed through. His response? "That’s what happens when you tell a motherf—er they have to mow a lawn. All of a sudden, they don’t want those shoes." He added, "We have the money? No. I have the money. You’re broke."

Affleck’s approach mirrors that of Shaquille O’Neal, who famously tells his kids, "We ain’t rich. I’m rich." Both dads are sending the same message—hard work matters, and being born into wealth doesn’t mean you get a free pass.

Samuel may not have left with Dior Jordans, but he got something more useful: perspective.
