List of post formats best for getting mindshare
I have X post formats I write: tweet, longread, and thread
Each carries its own value and differs in what I write
Tweet and longread work best for teaching, thread for deep research
But I decided to break down how to write each, and when to use what:
1/ Tweet/Quote
Short post format, to XXX characters
Use for: questions to the audience, memes, short reply to something
Basically to say a couple of words
How to write: keep it as short and concise as possible
Just X theses with maximum value in minimum characters
Use conversational tone of voice, focus on emotion or a question
Example:
2/ Longread
Long post format, up to XXXXXX characters (for X Premium)
Use for: guides, trend breakdowns, personal experience/stories, analytical posts
Main goal is to deliver value, knowledge, and experience in one post
How to write: start with a catchy hook, question or statement
Unfold why this should be interesting, details about the project, experience, etc
In the middle, make a guide and step-by-step actions or conclusions you made
And a small conclusion, takeaways from this post, advice
Don’t be afraid to write little or a lot, the key is no unnecessary fluff
Rhythm and dynamics matter so it’s easy to read
Example 1: Example 2: Example 3:
3/ Thread
Thread is a set of connected tweets
Each of which is a logical continuation of the next
Use for: deep research topics, explanation of one deep thought step by step
Anything that needs more detailed exploration and needs to be split into parts
How to write:
First tweet is the hook, it should be very catchy so people want to click further
Make it easy to read and immediately clear what it’s about
Second tweet is the context, where it’s important to explain why to keep reading, what they will get, a brief backstory
After that, it’s important to build a logical structure, everything step by step, then observations or thoughts, conclusions
Last tweet is to ask for a follow, drop a link to the community, mention the most active people so they notice you
A good thread is when the conversion from hook views to the last tweet doesn’t dump
Example:
4/ Conclusion
I’ll be honest, separating formats for different topics is important
Because that’s what makes your content easy to read
When your content gets better, more followers read it
The more they read, the more your mindshare grows
It’s simple: get better, get better respectfully
