Fandom warriors are going to wage their fan wars, but it’s a reasonable observation that Gunn’s “Superman” didn’t perform better than “Man of Steel”, and that even “Man of Steel” didn’t perform well enough.

Neither was a cultural/commercial smash like “Superman” should be.
