Hollywood’s entertainment complex (including film, TV, music, and related arts) accounts for about $65–$70 billion in annual GDP in California, which is roughly 1.5%–1.7% of the state’s total GDP as of 2024. 

While some production has moved to other states and countries, California remains the industry’s global hub thanks to its deep talent pool and infrastructure—though the state’s share of national filmed entertainment has declined over the past decade, causing a loss of jobs and output.
