The clearest photo of Halley's Comet

The image of Halley's Comet was taken by the Giotto spacecraft at a distance of about 2000 km on March 14, 1986. This was the first attempt in history to approach the comet's nucleus: the probe passed through a gas and dust cloud and was able to record the surface structure.

Thanks to this, humanity saw for the first time that the nucleus is a dark, irregularly shaped body measuring about 15x8 km, covered in dust and evaporating gases.
