In 2007, Andrew McAuley attempted to kayak XXX miles across the dangerous Tasman Sea. He vanished near the end of his journey, and his damaged kayak was found XX nautical miles from shore. His body was never recovered, but footage from the trip was retrieved from a memory stick inside the kayak.
