I know that the challenges facing our nation are immense and dangerous. I know that sacrifice and pain will be the price demanded at the altar of freedom. But I also know that it is not in moments of ease or pleasure that a man’s character and conviction are tested, but in those moments when life presents a challenge—when the abyss stands before us—and we must respond without fear. I know that this atmosphere of fear is characteristic of a State of Exception, where a totalitarian regime advances ruthlessly over human lives. But I make an appeal to my fellow Brazilians: do not surrender to despair. We surrender, not when circumstances are miserable, but when we are miserable.” (G.K. Chesterton) I have always held as a basic truth that life is an extravagant miracle of God, but that it is equally filled with extraordinary dangers. The overabundance of modern life created the illusion of safety and comfort. That is unreal. Life is struggle and sweat—not pleasure and security. We have spent so much time distracted by small pleasures and material achievements that we have forgotten the extraordinary challenges of life. True triumph does not lie in the conformity of a life full of comfort, but in the courage to fight tirelessly—even when all seems lost. I will not be a hypocrite: hard times lie ahead. The challenges will be immense, and many will suffer. All of us face a difficult and painful battle for freedom. But a man cannot give in to despair and fear—he must not! Today, my friends, I hear echoing in my heart and soul the words of Thomas Jefferson: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” I gave up an entire life in Brazil in order to have the means to fight against the bloodthirsty regime that is throwing elderly women in jail and killing fathers in the political torture chambers of the tyrants who have taken over our country. I made a commitment before God that I would be willing to give up everything to rise against this nefarious tyranny. I call upon all my brothers—all men of honor and courage—to stand beside me in this battle. We will not yield. There is no room for complacency or cowardice. The true moment has arrived—the moment that will separate the brave from the cowards. There is only one possible agreement: the release of all political prisoners, the end of all persecution, and the removal of the most despicable tyrant to ever walk through our republic—Alexandre de Moraes. There will be no middle ground. There will be no concessions. I am willing to go to the very end in the name of this ideal we call freedom. If we cannot save Brazil, then at the very least, we will avenge it. May God bless us. XXXXXX engagements [Post Link](https://x.com/BolsonaroSP/status/1944122181082132557)
