— Pentagon bluntly asks Japan and Australia.

“Elbridge Colby, under-secretary of defence for policy, has been pushing the issue in meetings with Japanese and Australian defence officials.”

Very cynical, considering that the US itself has a policy of “strategic ambiguity” under which it does not say if it would defend Taiwan. 🤨
