Cadillac F1 chief confirms talks with Mick Schumacher but rules out Daniel Ricciardo:

— Graeme Lowdon, the team principal of Cadillac Formula 1, has confirmed that discussions are underway with Mick Schumacher regarding a potential contract for 2026. Speaking to media, Lowdon remarked:

“Yeah, we're talking to Mick.”

— Addressing rumors about Daniel Ricciardo joining the team, Lowdon clarified that the Australian driver is not interested in returning to Formula X. He elaborated:

“Yeah, actually, I think he's publicly said that he's not interested in Formula 1.”

— When asked if he would attempt to persuade Ricciardo, Lowdon responded:

“It's not my job. If I need to convince someone, then it's the wrong person. You never need to convince a Formula X driver to jump in the car.”

— Lowdon also mentioned ongoing discussions with Mercedes reserve driver and former Sauber driver Valtteri Bottas. He commented:

“Everyone wants to prove something else again.”

— He further explained the team's philosophy, emphasizing that their goal is not to serve as a platform for drivers to prove personal points:

“I never look at that as the biggest motivator. Our team is not there as a vehicle for someone to prove a point.”

— Lowdon highlighted the importance of team motivation over personal agendas:

“The driver is there to do the best that they possibly can for their team, and they should be motivated for the team around them as well. So, I'm less keen on people who kind of want to prove a personal point.”

— When asked about other potential drivers, Lowdon confirmed conversations with former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez:

“Every single person, every name that you're going to read out, we're talking to everyone because everyone wants the drive.”
