Many wealthy retirees are living far more frugally than they need to—despite sitting on millions. It’s not about thrift or habit. It’s fear.

New research shows retirees are withdrawing just XXX% of their savings per year, far below the standard X% rule. Why? They're worried about living longer than expected, rising costs, and outliving their money. That fear has turned retirement into a time of caution, not celebration.

Even with seven-figure portfolios, some retirees are skipping vacations, avoiding big purchases, and acting like they’re broke—just in case. Meanwhile, many others don’t have the luxury to be cautious.

Federal data shows that XX% of Americans aged XX to XX had no retirement savings in 2022. And nearly XX% of those 65+ were considered economically insecure.

Now, more seniors are going back to work. About XX% of Americans XX and older are still employed, double the rate from the 1980s. For some, it’s by choice. For others, it’s survival.

The takeaway? Whether you’re rich or not, retirement success means more than just saving—it’s about having a plan, staying flexible, and making sure fear doesn’t stop you from living the life you worked for.
