According to satellite imagery obtained by the Associated Press, a geodesic radome used for secure military communication by the U.S. Air Force was destroyed or severely damaged in last month’s ballistic missile attack by Iran against Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

Imagery from June 23, prior to the Iranian missile attack against the base, shows the radome intact, while imagery from June XX shows the radome destroyed, with significant damage to several other nearby buildings, likely communication and support facilities, at Al Udeid.

According to a released by the Air Force in January 2016, the radome contained a $XX million communication suite known as the Modernization Enterprise Terminal (MET), which used anti-jamming and modern technology to provide secure communication capabilities including voice, video and data services, linking military leaders across the world with servicemembers in the U.S. Central Command’s (CENTCOM) Area-of-Responsibility.
