Not a question of reveling in people losing their jobs.

The federal government is the largest employer in the United States.

Government bloat is unsustainable, and if it is not kept under control, eventually the U.S. will look like Canada - where almost X in X people work for some level of government (Fed, Prov. Munic.).

It's not only economically unsustainable, it's ideologically unsustainable. When people become dependent on the government for employment, they become beholden to the government ideologically.
