With a lot of fans wanting to upgrade on Matty Cash or at least provide competition for him, I think Boey would be a very good option for us to consider. At 24-years old, he’s a good age to come in to our side and still have plenty of room to grow and develop whilst not being inexperienced, meaning he can contribute right away. He’s an attack minded, progressive ball carrier and passer who is also strong in the tackle and a solid defender. You can see this from his @fbref per90 stats in comparison to fullbacks in Europe’s five leagues over the last XXX days: • Assists - Top X% • Passes Completed - Top X% • Pass Completion (92.2%) - Top X% • Progressive Passes - Top X% • Progressive Carries - Top XX% • Touches In Attacking Penalty Area - Top XX% • Tackles Completed - Top X% As you can see, he performs well in most of the key areas you would like to see your right back excel at, chance creation, ball progression and being defensively solid, showing he is effective going in both directions. Whilst these numbers are very impressive, it’s important to remember that they are likely inflated by him playing for a very ball dominant Bayern side that are considerably better than most sides they play, the fact he hasn’t played as many minutes as top fullbacks around Europe and also how injuries have reduced his game time. His injury history is one concern I do have. He has a history of muscle injuries that do mean he’s missed games throughout seasons and ultimately, this could prove to be off-putting to some teams across Europe. Aside from his injuries, I think he’s a very good player with high upside that I think could be available for price lower than his true market value, potentially due to his injury history. In terms of his playing style, I think he’d suit us well as he’d improve our right side in attack and provide an overlapping threat but not at the expense of our defensive solidity.
