Rollups needed something Ethereum alone couldn’t give them: a trust layer with fast finality and DA that doesn’t slow them down. Espresso didn’t come to replace rollups; it came to unlock them. It’s technically L1, but it feels different it’s the kind of L1 that rollups actually want to build on, because it makes them faster, safer, and more composable. People keep asking if @EspressoSys is L1 or L2, but once you spend time in the ecosystem, you see it’s not about fitting in a box.
