Some of New York's wealthiest financiers are scrambling to build out a network of outside groups that plan to go to war against Democratic nominee for mayor Zohran Mamdani as a last stand against the surging progressive candidate.

A new independent expenditure group named "New Yorkers for a Better Future Mayor 25" is launching a campaign against Mamdani, with a plan to raise around $XX million.
