Tensions flared late Wednesday night at the Indian Institute of Technology - Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) in Varanasi after a student was caught red-handed allegedly filming a fellow student bathing in the PC Ray Boys Hostel.

The accused is an MTech student from the Chemical Engineering department. According to complainants, he was caught while attempting to secretly record a bathing student using a mobile phone from an elevated position outside the bathroom.

Following the incident, the hostel warden and other officials were alerted. The IIT-BHU Proctorial Board immediately confiscated the student's phone and took him into custody.
