I've reached the end of my week with the new Toyota Land Cruiser, and have some thoughts. I wanted to love this thing, but I couldn't fall in love with it. It looks impressive, but it didn't do enough to win me over. Despite the power figures, the powertrain is dull. It gets the job done adequately, but it lacks excitement. The rear seats are cramped, the switchgear and interior feel cheaper than prior LC products, and generally speaking, I just don't see the value. This is a $72k vehicle, and it doesn't feel like one. I'm not sure any of this matters, though, as Toyota has sold just over 27000 of these in the US YtD, meaning there are plenty of buyers who do see the value.
