It’s a mixed bag. On the upside, they give players real ownership of their digital gear - letting them trade, sell, or even use items across different games. For studios, that means new revenue streams from secondary sales and a more engaged (and invested) community. And yeah, some players are here to speculate, treating rare skins or characters like digital collectibles - which isn’t necessarily bad if it keeps the economy buzzing. But there’s a catch: a ton of gamers despise NFTs, seeing them as greedy or just plain annoying. If a game starts feeling like a stock market instead of a fun escape, casual players bounce. Worse, if speculators drive prices up and then bail, the in-game economy can crash hard. The sweet spot? Use NFTs to enhance the experience - not dominate it. Give traders their playground, but don’t forget the players who just want to log in and have a blast. Nail that balance, and NFTs could work. Miss it, and they’ll do more harm than good.
