An officer of the Ukrainian SBU security service's Alpha special forces unit has been shot dead in Kyiv, officials tell me. The victim was IDd as Ivan Voronych. The SBU said a murder case has been opened and its agents along with National Police are investigating and working to hunt down the shooter. The shooter, seen wearing a mask in CCTV footage published by local media, approached Voronych as he exited a building in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district and shot him with a pistol at point-blank range this morning.
