This is a very dangerous advice.
You may mean well but this is a very dangerous and destructive advice both to kids and to their parents. I will explain.

As a parent:
You should give your child a healthy balanced diet. NOT “what the child likes”.

A healthy balanced diet is what a child needs for optimal nourishment, physical growth and mental development. This is what a good sensible parent must always give the child.

If you always give a child “what the child likes”, you will ruin that child’s life. Children, if left to themselves, will only drink soda, eat biscuits, chocolates, burgers, meatpie and all the terrible junk foods that are out there.

A child that is only fed what the child likes is a child that will very likely end up with obesity, heart disease and a lot of medical illnesses from routinely eating junk foods.

As a parent,
So long as the child is not allergic to the food, you must give your child a balanced diet of healthy food and NOT “what the child likes”.

Of course if the child likes healthy food, then yes, that is very good for you and the child. If the child doesn’t like healthy food but prefers junk nonsense, then you have a serious problem. You must take the child to a dietitian to help handle the situation.

What you must NEVER do as a sensible parent is to simply always give a child “what the child likes”. That is a dangerous destructive idea that will only ruin that child on the long run.

Giving a child the food that you have so long as it is healthy food is NOT “force” and it is NOT “child abuse”. Let’s slow down on the unhelpful rhetoric.

Giving your child what you have as a parent, as long as the child has no allergy and it is a balanced diet of healthy food, is the medically right thing to do.

Don’t raise a spoilt brat that assumes they can always get whatever they like, whenever they want it, especially when you the adult know it is dangerous and destructive for them. You are a bad parent, if you indulge and oblige everything “the child likes”. Now that is the actual child abuse.
